Advancing Rider Safety and Accessibility
Key infrastructure improvements at the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station in Folsom were recently completed as part of Sacramento Regional Transit District’s (SacRT) Light Rail Modernization Project.
Updates included the addition of a second track to allow trains to operate eastbound and westbound between the Sunrise and Historic Folsom stations. With the passing track in place, trains can now run more frequently for better service and efficiency. The redesigned station layout also allows passengers to board from either side, enhancing convenience and accessibility.

SacRT’s new platform required specialized guardrails with proper spacing to prevent falls and unauthorized access while complying with public safety regulations. We worked closely with project engineers to meet these specifications, maintaining both structural integrity and aesthetic cohesion with the station’s design. Our team adapted to scope-of-work modifications to address last-minute changes in the platform layout, demonstrating flexibility and expertise in public infrastructure projects.
Because the project required suspension of light rail service for riders, timely execution was critical for reopening the line as scheduled. To streamline the process, much of the welding was completed in-shop before being transported for final installation onsite.
