Advancing Rider Safety and Accessibility
Key infrastructure improvements at the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station in Folsom were recently completed as part of Sacramento Regional Transit District’s (SacRT) Light Rail Modernization Project.
Updates included the addition of a second track to allow trains to operate eastbound and westbound between the Sunrise and Historic Folsom stations. With the passing track in place, trains can now run more frequently for better service and efficiency. The redesigned station layout also allows passengers to board from either side, enhancing convenience and accessibility.
- Iron fencing installation to create a clear and secure boundary between station areas.
- Custom guardrails and handrails at the new boarding platforms to enhance passenger safety.
- Onsite and offsite welding to meet precise specifications while maintaining project deadlines.

SacRT’s new platform required specialized guardrails with proper spacing to prevent falls and unauthorized access while complying with public safety regulations. We worked closely with project engineers to meet these specifications, maintaining both structural integrity and aesthetic cohesion with the station’s design. Our team adapted to scope-of-work modifications to address last-minute changes in the platform layout, demonstrating flexibility and expertise in public infrastructure projects.
Because the project required suspension of light rail service for riders, timely execution was critical for reopening the line as scheduled. Having contributed to multiple transit projects over the years, Crusader has a long-standing reputation as a trusted vendor with SacRT, one capable of delivering high-quality solutions on tight deadlines.
To streamline the process, much of the welding was completed in-shop before being transported for final installation onsite. This field-shop collaboration was key in ensuring smooth project execution. Crusader is proud to have contributed to this essential transit improvement project, reinforcing our commitment to safe public infrastructure, built to last.
