Building Exceptional Community Parks

Known for open, green spaces and spectacular beachfront views, Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island are located halfway between San Francisco and the East Bay. Connected by a causeway, Yerba Buena is a natural island, and Treasure Island is manmade, built by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1937 to serve as an airport, then a training ground for the U.S. Navy. In 2016, redevelopment efforts resulted in about 1,800 residents.
